About Cultivated Biosciences

We're building a world in which animal-free dairy is the better choice for everyone.

​Our mission is to empower plant-based dairy to give it the creaminess and mouthfeel consumers strive for.

To do this we are developing creamy functional ingredients from non-GMO yeast to be sold as B2B ingredients. We have just raised our seed round and are transitioning from the lab to the market.

Your mission

As a Head of Finance & Legal, you will be responsible for managing the financial and legal aspects of our company. You will oversee finances, legal contracts, financial reporting, governance, and fundraising activities. Your role is crucial in ensuring the financial health and legal compliance of our organization, as well as supporting strategic growth initiatives.

Responsibilities:
- Manage all financial operations and strategy
- Oversee legal matters, including contracts with partners, NDAs, and MTAs
- Coordinate financial reporting, maintaining communication with accountants and auditors
- Handle grant applications and management
- Ensure governance, including organizing and managing the General Assembly
- Support fundraising efforts, with lead on on debt and non-dilutive financing

What you need to succeed

- At least 5 years of experience managing finances in a high-growth startup environment
- Strong understanding of legal aspects related to business operations
- Excellent financial reporting and analytical skills
- Experience with grant applications and management
- Ability to oversee governance processes and ensure compliance
- Proven track record in fundraising, including debt and non-dilutive financing
- Strong leadership and strategic planning skills
- Experience with CAPEX intensive “make or buy” decisions and working with contract manufacturers

- Have a proactive approach to managing finances and legal aspects
- Are detail-oriented and able to handle complex financial reporting
- Can manage legal contracts and ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations
- Are skilled in strategic financial planning and fundraising
- Can work independently and as part of the senior leadership team

Bonus Points
- Knowledge in sales and previous working experience in the US
- Additional language skills, especially in German and Swiss German
