About Cultivated Biosciences
We're building a world in which animal-free dairy is the better choice for everyone.
Our mission is to empower plant-based dairy to give it the creaminess and mouthfeel consumers strive for.
To do this we are developing creamy functional ingredients from non-GMO yeast to be sold as B2B ingredients. We have just raised our seed round and are transitioning from the lab to the market.
Your mission
As an Analytical Chemistry Intern in our food chemistry team, you will be responsible for supporting our research and development efforts focused on food and process sample analysis. You will work alongside our senior chemists and food scientists to develop and validate analytical methods, ensuring the accuracy and reliability of our data. This role is essential in helping us enhance our understanding the role of various nutrient components, including fibers, proteins, and fats in our ingredients, determining correlations between their composition and the technological properties they possess, the continuous improvement of the quality control methodologies and other things contributing to the advancement of our projects.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the development and validation of analytical methods for the analysis of compounds such as fibers, proteins, and fats
- Conduct experiments and analyze ingredient samples using techniques such as HPLC (High-Performance Liquid Chromatography) and colorimetric assays
- Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment to ensure accurate and reliable results
- Document and report findings clearly and accurately, maintaining detailed records of experiments and analyses
- Collaborate with senior chemists and food scientists to interpret data and provide insights
- Participate in troubleshooting and resolving analytical issues to improve methods and processes
Ensure compliance with safety protocols and laboratory standards
What you need to succeed

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Food Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or a related field

Experience working in a research or analytical laboratory, preferably with food analysis

Knowledge of analytical techniques such as HPLC, colorimetric assays, and other relevant methods for food and process sample analysis

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Attention to detail and the ability to work accurately and efficiently

Proactive and entrepreneurial attitude with a willingness to learn new techniques quickly

Excellent verbal and written communication skills
